How do you manage stress?

05/04/2018

16 million people experience a mental health problem each year, stress is a key factor in this. We have all encountered stress in our personal lives and at work and we all handle it very differently.

This year's Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) is themed around `stress' and is coordinated by the Mental Health Foundation from 14-20? May. Their website has plenty of resources available including free posters to download and print, as well as top tips for good mental health and wellbeing. https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/

We hope you will join us to run a number of activities throughout the week for colleagues and customers to raise awareness of stress, share coping mechanisms as well as get people talking about the issue.

We would like to have a number of MHAW supporters come forward from each of the Advance offices as well as those who are not office based. If you want to get invovled and are passionate about trying to make things better for others, please get in touch at: marketing@advanceuk.org

You can get also get involved if you are happy to run an activity during the week where you work or are willing to provide a personal account of how you deal with stress.

Some of the activities we hope will run during the week are:

  • webinar/sessions on mindfulness
  • wellness walks where you work/live
  • relaxation techniques for customers with the Hackney drama group
  • information sessions on what does the Employee Assistance Programme offer for staff
  • signing up to the `Safe Places' initiative https://www.safeplaces.org.uk/

Good mental health and wellbeing is essential for all of us to thrive and we hope you will join in this week and do your bit to raise awareness of the issue and get the conversations going with colleagues and customers.
