Managing Lync Conversations

10/06/2019

A number of changes will be made to how we store and manage Outlook over the next six months. The first change is to Lync conversations and how they are stored and managed.

Using Lync
Lync is a valuable tool which enables us to communicate and collaborate with colleagues. Please be aware that Lync conversations have the same status as an Outlook email or other correspondence. We are required by law to release relevant conversations conducted in Lync as part of a Subject Access Request (SAR) – see the Data Protection Policy for more information. We would therefore encourage everyone to manage conversations in Lync in a professional way – see the Information Security Policy and the Code of Conduct on the intranet, for further detail.

Where is it?
Lync conversation history can be found in Outlook in the 'Conversation History' folder on the left-hand side of your emails (listed under the Inbox folder). If you have a few conversations that you don't want to be deleted then make sure you save them (an easy 'File' & 'Save As').  More detailed guidance is available here: Lync Convo History Guidance.docx

What is changing?

*From June 14th all Lync conversation history older than 90 days will be permanently deleted

Did you know?
You can turn the automatic save option off so in the future you won't have to worry about saving and deleting!
