25 Today

05/04/2018

Twenty-five years ago, on 5th April 1996, the Guideposts Housing Association Ltd was officially registered as Advance Housing and Support Ltd. So today in our own small way we wanted to acknowledge the milestone of Advance coming into official existence.

Pictured announcing the name change from Guideposts to Advance are (left to right): Stuart Rigg (Chief Executive who retired in 2011), Harry Turner (Chairman 1992-94) and Sir William Utting (former Chief Inspector of Social Services).

Some of you may be more familiar with the 40th birthday party held at Longleat in April 2014. That was a staff and customer trip to celebrate the 40th birthday of Guideposts Housing Association Ltd first being registered as a charitable registered housing association back in 1974. Although our first roots go back even further to 1972 when the Guideposts Trust was established as a registered charity.

So later this month we will be celebrating the 44th birthday of our origins as Guideposts Housing Association - but have more of an eye on our 45th birthday in 2019 and the big 50 in 2024!

As an organisation we have a long and fascinating history. We have much to be proud of. We, and those before us, have made a significant difference to the lives of thousands of people over many years and hope to keep doing so for many more.
